History
La cavità era nota fin dal medioevo come luogo dedicato al culto della dea Diana. Solo a fine '800 su intervento del vescovo locale fu realizzata l'attuale cappella dedicata a S. Lucia. Si può supporre che anticamente la cavità fosse un modesto anfratto naturale, poi allargato e adattato per ospitare il tempietto attuale.
